For your content to be effective, for you to have successful messages, you need to consider at least the following five questions:
- Which market are you writing/communicating in?
- Are you aware of the standards and expectations in that business culture?
- Who is your target audience?
- What do you know about your target audience?
Can you wordsmith your content so that your messages are successful?Over the years, I have learned a little bit about other languages. When I used to try to communicate using spoken French, in a (Canadian) French culture, I was laughed at. Such an outcome would be a disaster for your business, or for any hope of your getting business in the Canadian or North American market. I live, work, and teach in Toronto, Canada, the largest business market in this country. I can help you.
Having spent two decades in Corporate Canada, in a few cases in communications roles, and two and a half decades teaching college students technology and business communications, I understand how to speak and write to the needs of others. If you are a small, independent, international business person, or just an individual who needs to get your message across in this marketplace, I can help you.
For example: suppose you are a small business person in Beijing, or perhaps Mumbai. You truly have a great product or service you want to introduce to the Canadian marketplace. Perhaps you had a good bilingual or multilingual friend translate your ad or marketing copy. Or better, you may have paid a translator to go over your copy. You put your message out there – maybe even paid for ad or marketing space – and: nothing. Little or no response. What if that one extra step you needed to take was to contact someone based here, in this marketplace, whose first language is English, who has trained in communications, and who has spent considerable time in the Canadian business culture?
I have created all sorts of business correspondence, reports, letters, social media content, web content, technical writing, and yes, blog posts as well.
